Students searching for educational opportunities online need to be aware of a new threat known as โ€œzombieโ€ universities.

These are fake university websites that are created after a real college closes. The fake websites look like the real university websites and when a student applies they steal their money and personal information.

There are at least nine colleges in the U.S. that have closed whose names are being used by imposters online.

That is why it is critical for prospective students to do their homework before applying to a university. They need to confirm that the university is real and is accredited like #UoPeople. Otherwise they may end up losing their hard-earned savings and even their identities to a โ€œzombieโ€ university.
