PRESS RELEASE

SALNAM To Donate Computers To Educational Institutions in Sierra Leone.

During the presentation of the Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba (SALNAM) tuition scholarship project last year in April 26th 2007, I promised the general public that SALNAM tuition project in Sierra Leone is not limited to providing scholarship to students alone, but will continue to provide school supplies (Computers, printers, network gears and reading materials) for schools across Sierra Leone.

Our organization is committed to ensuring equal educational opportunities to all Sierra Leoneans. This commitment rose from our firm belief that, the quality of human capital depends on the nations emphasis on education. SALNAM as an organization will not stand-by and see future scientist, engineers, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, etc, held back from school by lack of educational opportunities. We need to build our national intellectual capacity through investment in education, eradicating knowledge-poverty and develop a more skilled and flexible workforce.

Sierra Leoneans across the globe need to come on board on this national call to rebuild mother Sierra Leone. The community here in Winnipeg is determined to work assiduously in a cohesive manner to ensure this call is answered, and Sierra Leone is taken out of the bottom of the global index. This is just the beginning of our long term goals and aspirations for our multi-projects scheme for Sierra Leone.
We are humble to inform the community members that, with your support to SALNAM, we have procured a large number of Dell Computers (Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz Processor), networks gear (Cisco switches and routers) and printers ready for distribution across educational institutions in Sierra Leone.

Computers provided by SALNAM are standard and upgradeable. We are aware of the number of computer globally donated to developing countries that ended up in landfills, most of these systems do not meet minimum requirement to run required applications, we will ensure that computer equipments we donate to schools in Sierra Leone meet the hardware requirement to run standard applications across multi-platforms

SALNAM is proud of its community members for their continuous support in making sure that we continue to search for better ways to best help our people in Sierra Leone. We urge others to avoid being spectators in the race to develop our country, you may not be able to build a school in Sierra Lone but you can donate a $50 or $100 to any organization that is working to change lives of people in Sierra Leone.

Muckson Sesay,
SALNAM Chairman for Development Committee
SALNAM President David Mahdi Koroma
