It is a fact that Information and Communications Minister Alpha Kanu (pictured) is doing an extremely good job at his Ministry where he has surrounded himself with a formidable team of troubleshooters and eloquent communicators.
His Deputy, Theo Nicol, had made a name for himself in the local media before his appointment while his Public Outreach Coordinator, Abdulai Bayraytay has many years’ experience as a journalist. Agibu Jalloh, another spokesman, is a stupendous communicator too.
It’s therefore no wonder that wherever Honourable Alpha Kanu goes these days he is first introduced as the Honourable Vuvuzela 001 (zero zero one), that is, the number one government spokesman (Agibu is Vuvuzela 003).
Bayraytay had the honour to introduce Honourable Alpha Kanu who was chairman at the recent laying of the foundation stone of a new Police academy at Makump on the Makeni-Maguraka highway by his Excellency President Ernest Koroma.
Bayraytay also described his boss as the man responsible for the country’s "Electro-magnetic Spectrum," a humorous reference to the fibre optic technology that will soon become a reality all over Sierra Leone.
Honourable Alpha Kanu studied Geophysics at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and has worked as a mining engineer, university lecturer and now politician. He was a member of parliament and has served as Minister in other ministries before assuming that of Information and Communications Minister.
