Carleen is an experienced community leader who’ll be a strong voice for North Vancouver families in Parliament—ready to work with Tom Mulcair to fix the damage done by Stephen Harper.

For 16 years, Carleen served as an elected council member for Tsleil-Waututh Nation, where she was responsible for all aspects of community development. In addition to managing justice and culture issues, she worked tirelessly to improve health, education and housing within her community.

Carleen is currently Intergovernmental Relations Project Manager for TWN’s Sacred Trust initiative. In this role, she brings people’s voices to the table on Kinder Morgan’s controversial pipeline expansion proposal.

A teacher by training, Carleen has worked for the North Vancouver and Burnaby school districts as a district resource teacher in Aboriginal education. Before earning her education degree from UBC in 2003, she worked as a teacher’s aide in North Vancouver and as Education Coordinator for her Nation.

Carleen and her husband Dave are deeply proud of their three adult children and four granddaughters. As a member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, Carleen’s roots in the Burrard Inlet area go back thousands of years—and she believes it is our sacred duty to protect our land and water for future generations.
