The highly articulate Honourable Leonard Balogun Koroma, a member of the high-powered APC delegation from Freetown currently in Toronto, Canada, has told the Patriotic Vanguard in a snap interview Saturday morning that the ruling APC party is not resting on its oars but busy planning for the forthcoming general elections in Sierra Leone scheduled for 2018.

"Elections are not only about singing and dancing but also about planning," Mr. Balogun Koroma, popularly known as Logus told the Patriotic Vanguard.

He revealed that a national delegates convention is being planned and His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma, who is also Chairman and Leader of the party will announce the date and time of the convention during which a flagbearer for the party for the 2018 elections will emerge.

Honourable Balogun Koroma, who is also Transport and Aviation Minister, came across as very articulate and intelligent (this was the first time he was being interviewed by the Patriotic Vanguard). He noted that while the opposition back home is in total disarray, the APC has started organizing from the grassroots, from the ward level to the highest echelon in the party’s structural framework.

Every ward, every district and every region now has party cadres ready to move into action at the appropriate time, the Minister pointed out. He said a diaspora elections coordinator will soon be appointed and that every branch in the diaspora now has a forum and they are all busy organizing, he said.

On APC-Canada, Honourable Koroma said this is the first time they are visiting Canada and he has been quite impressed on what he has seen so far, adding he has been in discussion with members in Toronto since Friday night till the early hours of Saturday putting in place modalities for the election of an executive for APC-Canada on Sunday. Meanwhile three candidates have come forward for the Chairmanship of APC-Canada.There will be a dinner and dance in honour of the visitors tonight in Toronto.

Other members of the delegation from Freetown have arrived in Toronto Saturday afternoon. They are APC Deputy Leader and Mines Minister Minkailu Mansaray, APC National Secretary-General Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh and Trade Minister and APC Western Region Chairman Momodu Allieu Pat-Sowe.

Stay tuned for developments.
