Dear reader, supporter and patron,

The Patriotic Vanguard, Sierra Leone’s most professional and most respected newspaper is back in action after a few weeks of what I would like to call an "unofficial sabbatical." During this time my team and I have been able to sit back and review our performance and business strategy. We have come up with the following:

1. PV can no longer be run as a charity as in the past. In fact we will soon get our license from the Independent Media Commission to operate back home in Sierra Leone as part of the print media. This means our people out there without access to the internet will soon be able to read the Patriotic Vanguard and get to experience the best in journalism.

2. We will from now on ask people to pay for all advertisements and announcements except obituaries and funeral arrangements. This is the only way we will be able to cover our operating costs and continue to survive as a business while covering the activities of our people at home and in the diaspora.

3. With regards to news items, articles and opinion pieces: We do not like to republish or repeat news items, articles and opinion pieces that have been published or sent elsewhere. However, we do publish, from time to time, press releases, communiques, agreements, etc that are, in our opinion, very important and interesting for our readers. In addition we do not like to receive news items, articles or opinion pieces with very bad grammar, very bad sentence structure and very bad spelling. We also do not like personal attacks and libellous writing. So you stand a better a chance of being published in PV if you take note and stick to these prescriptions.

So ladies and gentlemen, we have returned with all the energy and zeal you can imagine. Sit back and enjoy the PV experience.

Orwa. Leh wi go.
