If we are searching in a book for people who are innovating to promote our cultural values in the Diaspora, there is no denying the fact that Mr. Joe Pokawa’s name is registered in that book as he is making the right choice of promoting our sky-rocketing musical stars.

While trying to make a difference within our community in Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex, Pokawa(photo) has decided to take new steps by bringing the highly demanded Super Star, Lansana Sheriff, popularly known as Steady Bongo, to Dallas in a live concert on August 15th.

For the first time the singer and super star, “Steady Bongo” is visiting and performing on stage with his natural talents in the state of Texas. According to the promoter, many dignitaries across the U.S will be invited, and quite a number of local performances have been arranged by the committee of the show.

Pokawa told PV that he is not only trying to promote Steady Bongo, but also making a fundraising drive that is geared towards enhancing children’s education in his Tungi-Gorama Chiefdom in Kenema District.

He said he has been searching for an idea and discovered that promoting our stars to raise funds would have two accomplishments, one for the star and the other for the country. That is why, he said, it will be a continuous effort to bring different stars from Sierra Leone from time to time to show their talents in Texas.

Any effort to enhance social and cultural credibility in our community is counted as a contribution to development in Sierra Leone. There are many options to undertake towards the drive of making contributions while we are in the Diaspora. Some people have decided to jump into a rock or climb the tree of disappointing politics, but Joe Pokawa has denied all pressure of choice to embark on fund-raising activities that would enable him improve the quality of education in his home town. The coming of Steady Bongo to Dallas on August 15th will provide greater opportunity to Sierra Leonean children born in America to see in reality our cultural heritage.

Partnering for the show is a notable Sierra Leonean in the Diaspora, Henry Gegbe who is well-known for his commingling, neutrality and friendliness. As a proprietor of H & R Enterprise, Henry is well-known across the United States for circulating the African culture in music.

In the cause of the sparkling momentum of the star, the organization, Sierra Stars Soccer Association (SSSA) deemed it necessary to partner with the promoter, Joe Pokawa.

According to the president of SSSA Mr. Patrick Dangawalli, Joe Pokawa’s vision is socially genuine and should be supported as a form of unity. The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Dallas chapter leader, Solomon Sengbeh Pieh, and Pastor Solomon Kaiwu were all listed to grace the show.

According his enthusiastic fans, Steady-Bongo will not regret it to visit the land of Cow Boys, a place where the All NBA Stars are scheduled for next year.

According to Pokawa, vacationing to see Steady Bongo will provide people with an opportunity to visit the best stadium in the world in a beautiful landscape at Arlington.
