Tony Blair Should Stop Meddling in Sierra Leone

"The imposed brutal poverty in Sierra Leone and its
attendant immorality at national and public life,
frustration, misery, want, despair and insecurity of
Sierra Leonean life and property is genocidal to say
the least."

By Amadu B. Bah.

The Sierra Leone People’s Democratic League (PDL)
hereby submits a complaint against the Labour
government of Prime Minister Tony Blair in London for blatant meddling and obstructionism.

The complaint concerns the conspiracies with foreign
criminal adventurers and terrorist mercenary groups to
dehumanize Africans in Sierra Leone. It concerns
attempts to obstruct the peace, stability, security,
unity and progress of Sierra Leone. It concerns also the merciless plunder and pillage, the malicious
propaganda campaign and manipulation of the
international community to murder the truth.

The imposed brutal poverty in Sierra Leone and its
attendant immorality at national and public life,
frustration, misery, want, despair and insecurity of
Sierra Leonean life and property is genocidal to say
the least. Our forty-five years of so-called
independence from imperial Britain can at best be
noted here as the period of waste, bloodletting,
economic sabotage, destruction, and degradation of
environment, pure greed, corruption, political
intrigues, ethnic purification and neglect of the
masses of African people in Sierra Leone. This is what
really Prime Minister Tony Blair stands for in Africa.

For nine years now, since the foisting of the dictator
Tejan Kabbah’s retrogressive leadership, it is prime
Minister Tony Blair that decides who and how Sierra
Leone should be governed; when and how elections
should be held; and above all, who should be given
license to extract Sierra Leone’s rich mineral
resources. Thus the wretchedness of the policy pursued
by the Labour government of prime Minister Tony Blair,
towards Sierra Leone is characterized by a desire to extract and exploit resources; intimidate Africans and feed fat on the land and
hire the services of the corrupt foreign media to
distort facts and mislead the public. The situation is
compounded by the destruction of the Sierra Leonean
environment due to ill thought out economic activities
of the mushrooming multi nationals in the country’s
oil and mineral mining sector.

The PDL is not anti-Britain, we reiterate. The problem
is not whether there are foreign companies wanting to
set up genuine businesses in Sierra Leone. Our concern
which we believe also is the concern of black people
everywhere on the planet, is the merciless hypocrisy,
divisionist economic imperialism and obstruction of
stability, unity and progress of Sierra Leone by the
lame duck and blundering Labour government of prime
Minister Tony Blair. There is every justification to
indict Mr. Blair of leading an anti-African campaign
of dehumanization in Sierra Leone.

We want the British public to understand that no one,
least of all black people everywhere, pretends to be
happy with Mr. Blair’s policy in Sierra Leone. No
African in their right mind expected the Prime
Minister of a country like Britain which claimed to
champion democracy and freedom in the world to
engage in activities that border on ruining whole
nations and peoples. We oppose Mr. Tony Blair’s
political miasma in Sierra Leone, as an attempt to
commit genocide in Africa.

We want the British public to exert pressure on their
government to end its support for the nefarious
activities of foreign criminal adventurers in Sierra
Leone. We want the British public to exert pressure on
their government to stop its support for mob rule
against democratic good governance; oppression against
freedom; political gangsterism against decency; and
for Tejan Kabbah’s arrogant dictatorship against the
rule of law in Sierra Leone. We want the British
public to exert pressure on their government to end
its unholy alliance with the thieves, thugs, corrupt,
faithless, unprincipled and evil-minded men and women
in the failed SLPP cum APC bandwagon.

This is our case. It is our complaint against the
sinking government of Prime Minister Tony Blair in
London.

With the above, we call on Africans everywhere on the
planet and friends of the continent to treat our
complaint with the seriousness it deserves. Africans
in the Diaspora in particular, have the responsibility
to say no to the destruction of their home in Africa
by former slave lords and colonialists. This is
because, the unity and progress of Africa depends
highly on the readiness of black people everywhere to
rescue their home and instill discipline on those
forces that are bent on dehumanizing their people.

When the Sierra Leone People’s Democratic League (PDL)
was inaugurated in 1986, it was envisioned that for
Sierra Leone not to slide into the abyss, a new political
direction, a new crop of patriotic leaders and commitments
are needed to move the nation forward. After
twenty years of existence, the contending issues that
brought about the formation of the PDL have continued
to degrade and dehumanize the nation day in day out.

With no ray of hope for the ordinary African living in
the country, the pressing problem faced by the nation
is the identification of a truly people-propelled,
third force political party that seeks to restore the
lost dignity of Sierra Leone.

The time for action is now, and we enjoin Africans
everywhere to come on board to save their people and
future.

By this statement, we challenge the labour Government
of Prime Minister Tony Blair in London to approve or
disprove our complaint.

May God save Sierra Leone!
