Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Jacob Jusu Saffa Tuesday charged that Charles Francis Margai Margai, Leader of the yet to be registered Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) is guilty of "threatening to assassinate Vice President Berewa" because he blocked his convoy in Bo.

"You cannot do that anywhere in the world to block the convoy of the Vice President. Margai is irresponsible, he is just faking his popularity," Saffa charged.

The Secretary General told Concord Times that they would be producing video clips to the press today (Wednesday) for the public to see how Charles Margai was in the company of "raray boys" as they rained abuses on the Vice President and blocked his convoy at CKC over the weekend.

He recounted that the Vice President initially did not want to attend the CKC ceremony but he later changed his mind to go there despite the fact that it was getting late.

"We left our supporters at the party office and the Vice President only drove in a convoy with Ministers and others in cars to the CKC ceremony. We did not see it as a political arena so the VP only had his security personnel with him," Saffa said.

He maintained that had it not been for the professionalism of the Vice President’s security officers, the scenario in Bo would have been a different story. "If our supporters were present at CKC, it would have been a serious clash," he said.

"We had to beg SLPP supporters on our knees to restrain them from attacking Margai supporters," Saffa said and reiterated, " Margai behaved irresponsibly."
