Momodu Allieu Pat-Sowe (pictured) is Sierra Leone’s Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources. In other words, he is in charge of anything under the sea and rivers of Sierra Leone except for oil which falls under the domain of the Ministry of Mines.

Pat-Sowe is also a well known grassroots politician and a member of the top brass of the ruling All People’s Congress party; he is the party’s chairman for the Western Region, which includes Freetown, the capital, where he was born and bred.

In a recent interview (May 2016) with Footprints to Africa (F2A), a Nigerian-owned media organization with an office in Freetown, Minister Pat-Sowe outlined how Sierra Leone’s marine resources are being managed under his watch, job opportunities being offered by the fishing industry, the creation of a Marine Training Institute for Sierra Leone and other African countries and what incentives are available for potential investors in this fast-moving and dynamic industry.
