President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone on Sunday February 20 crowned Greg Meeks, the leader of a US Congressional delegation to Sierra Leone that arrived in the country on Saturday.

Meeks is a New York congressman but hailed from South Carolina, a rice-growing area which has close links with Sierra Leone. DNA evidence has shown that Meeks is in fact Mende, the predominant ethnic group in the south and east of Sierra Leone.

The delegation has already visited Bunce Island across the estuary from Freetown the capital.

The following clips depict speech of Representative Meeks at State Lodge (presidential residence) in Freetown, his speech at Bunce Island from where his ancestors were taken to South Carolina in the United States of America and the arrival of the delegation at Lungi International airport on Saturday.
