The AIDS pandemic is a global problem and the Director of the National AIDS Secretariat (NAS), Dr. Brima Kargbo and Secretariat team find themselves at the centre to stamp the dreadful social ailment out of Sierra Leone.

Here in Sierra Leone, NAS is entrusted with the responsibility of sensitizing the public to follow the ABC slogan of Abstinence - be faithful and the use condoms.

To that effect, the AIDS Secretariat has implemented a decentralized project aimed at sensitizing local communities, where it is believed that the pandemic is still predominant and hard felt.

The AIDS Secretariat aims at implementing a decentralized project to take the AIDS sensitization project to the local’s communities, where the pandemic is still predominant and hard felt.

The National AIDS Secretariat is working through local and international non-governmental Organizations - INGOs to help government arrest the social virus.

In 2009 will see a difference to develop on the gains of 2008 and past years in trying to sensitize our local communities on what AIDS can do to them.

AIDS is a social virus that Dr. Brima Kargbo and his team are busy healing tacking through workshops and other communication agencies.

AIDS undoubtedly is a social virus that needs to be handled with seriousness. In this regard, Sierra Leoneans are calling on the Secretariat to continue educating and sensitizing the masses and other stakeholders in the fight against the pandemic through organizing workshops, seminars etc.

On the other hand, Sierra Leoneans should come together to join hands in the AIDS sensitization campaign drive in spite the fact that there are those who still do not believe that AIDS is a reality. Those doubting Thomases should rethink!

This can only be achieved through the concerted effort of all local and international partners and for NAS to make a difference in 2009 in terms of the gains made in 2008 and the previous years in trying to sensitize our local communities on the dangers of AIDS.

The Secretariat also advise those who do not believe in AIDS as a sexually transmitted disease to rethink. Effective is the strategy to assist the AIDS sensitization drive and Sierra Leonean lives will be served by this effort.

The last word is for all to follow the ABC slogan and keep to one partner and that is what the AIDS Secretariat is busy doing.
