JHR Jobs for Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo

Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is Canada’s largest international media development organization. JHR is currently seeking 4 Journalism Trainers and 1 Senior Trainer to work with local media Sierra Leone for 7 months. JHR is also seeking 2 Senior Trainers to work with local media in Kinshasa, DRC for 8 months. All positions start in mid-October.

A) Journalism Trainers, Sierra Leone:
Four Journalism Trainers will be hired to work in Sierra Leone for 7 months starting mid October 2008. Applicants should be working journalists with radio or print experience. The positions vary, but will focus on conducting daily one-on-one on the job training with local journalists. B) Senior Trainer, Sierra Leone:
One Senior Trainer will be hired to work in JHR’s office in Sierra Leone for 7 months starting mid October 2008. Applicants should be working journalists with significant experience in print, radio and/or TV. Selected Trainers will be based in Freetown with regular travel around the country. The work of the Senior Trainer will vary but will focus on organizing and facilitating workshops and working with students at post secondary institutions. C) Senior Trainers, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo:
Two Senior Trainers will be hired to work in JHR’s office in Kinshasa, DRC for 8 months starting mid October 2008. Applicants should be fluently bilingual and be working journalists with significant experience in print, radio and/or TV. The work of the Senior Trainers will vary but will focus on organizing and facilitating workshops, working with students, mentoring local Journalism Fellows and monitoring a local small grants program.
