I woke up this morning and immediately searched online for Prof Patrick Bernard’s tribute to JB Roy.->http://www.thepatrioticvanguard.com/james-manna-kajue-an-obituary] I knew the tribute would reveal vivid memories of JB Roy’s days at FBC. Indeed, JB Roy’s passing shocked many of us.
JB Roy’s high sense of intellect and critical thinking, became ‘counter productive’ when he started questioning the conventional form of academia in the setting of owning a degree. JB Roy (photo) believed, in his final year at FBC, that a university degree does not define one’s status in the field of academia. This was ironic, because, the premise of every student’s quest to attend university, is to acquire a Degree. Could this have been a mental lapse in JB’s judgment brought about by external factors?
JB was far ahead of his time, as mentioned by Professor Patrick Bernard. JB Roy’s political, social and cultural presentation, shaped my political awareness at FBC.
May his soul rest in Peace.
