Sierra Leone Next Movie Star will stage their Freetown audition, on Saturday October 22, at the AYV Media Empire, Tower Hill in Freetown to search for Sierra Leoneans whose faces can be identified for the budding the movie industry in Sierra Leone.
After the selection of the best 16 people, a reality television show will be held to select the best three among the 16.

Desmond Finney is the Executive Producer of Sierra Leone Next Movie Star.
According to him, the Next Movie Star is a company registered in Sierra Leone, and it is limited by guarantee.

He said the Next Movie Star is a registered company and it comprises movie directors, producers and actors in the country.

Desmond added that the Next Movie Star is a television reality show in which they are trying to find the next generation of actors in Sierra Leone, noting that auditions had been held in Kenema, Bo, and Makeni cities, while the Waterloo and Freetown auditions will be done in Freetown on Saturday.

He says the initiative is geared towards finding people who they can be able to groom and eventually stand out in the movie industry. He said this is one way in which the industry can grow and recognize faces that can be the identity of the industry in the country.

He said that in the Nigeria and Ghana movie industries there are recognized faces, "but for Sierra Leone, there are only few of us here that can be recognized."

The award-winning actor revealed that the next movie star can be somebody who has never acted before or somebody that has acted before but yet to be recognized.

Finney said the next movie stars must be Sierra Leoneans that can demonstrate acting skills, regardless of whether they are recognized actors or not.

According to him they already have six in Kenema, eight in Bo, seven in Makeni and seven in Waterloo, noting that they are expecting to get a total of 50 before going to the national audition.

He said that those that have been shortlisted will be brought together for training before going to the next level, the national audition.

According to him, the winner will receive a cash prize and a movie contract in either Nigeria or England.

"All age brackets are invited to take part in the audition because we are not limiting it to any age," he said.

According to him, they are getting funding from Supdee Movies, Brighter Day Pictures and AYV Media Empire, adding that they have reached out to other partners and they are expecting to get funding from them too.
