The parliament of Sierra Leone has passed the amended IMC Act into law today in Freetown, thus repealing the Criminal Libel and Sedition laws in the country.
The process was championed by Information and Communications Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray (photo), popularly known as Rado.
This means the obnoxious Public Order Act of 1965 that was used to harass and imprison journalists by past governments is no more.
Details later.
