Sierra Leonean born Canada based rapper and producer, Sam Bockarie aka "Leone Star", is out for real this time around.

For the very first time in his music career, the PegCity maestro opened up to talk about his life, his passion and his undying love for music.

In some high profile music circles, he’s simply addressed by the bosses as "The Heat Man." This is due to his strong conscious lyrics and his electrifying performances.

At 22, Leone Star (photo) is poised to take Salone music sky high in the North American music scene and beyond.

At a very early age Leone Star had been rapping and entertaining. He actually survived the civil war in Sierra Leone and later moved to Damascus, Syria, and that was where the calling to take Salone music to the world scene took place.

In 2000, Leone Star decided to relocate to Winnipeg, Canada. Since then, everything the rapper touches turns to gold, and the rest is HIStory.
"I love it here," he confided.

In Winnipeg, Leone Star took band, music and productions classes which helped him become the most sought-after music producer in the Sierra Leone community in Canada.

"It’s about time we take Sierra Leone music to another level. It’s about time we move on and have our country recognised in the world music map," he told me.

Leone Star’s performances are totally off the hook. At the first annual 40 Acres Awards 2007, he had the entire audience spellbound with a performance which is still memorable in the minds of the people that attended the event.
Currently, he’s working on his debut album which is due later this year or early next year.

"It’s gonna be the begining of the realization of things in Salone music," he confided.

The new CD will be a fusion of rap, afro beat and a little bit of this and that.
