Can We Vote, Please?

12 January 2006 at 03:50 | 609 views

The act of voting marks the start of every democratic process. The past years witnessed two unrelated phenomena in Sierra Leone: A dramatic increase in migration and the rapid expansion of democratic institutions and practices. While both issues attract sustained attention, an increasing number of Sierra Leoneans find themselves alienated from the political process in their country of origin despite their provision of important economic, cultural and social benefits.

So, we are kindly asking authorities to consider granting Leoneans in the diaspora a chance to cast a ballot and add our voices in the political affairs of the well cherished motherland.
