Mohamed Kallon’s quest for having a go at the English Premier League has
remained undiminished despite encountering earlier hiccups.
Kallon’s persistence has paid off big time following latest reports that he
has been given another opportunity to prove himself at a top premier league
club.
Portsmouth Football Club Manager, Harry Redknapp, has confirmed interest in
the Sierra Leone striker ultimately offering Kallon a life line to pursue
his professional dream in England.
Kallon is presently undergoing a trial at Portsmouth and if all goes well,
Harry Redknapp will not hesitate to haul him to the south coast of England
permanently.
The good news is that with Manager Redknapp at the helm of things this time
around, Kallon has the best chance to succeed and this will eventually bring
broad smiles to all soccer loving Sierra Leoneans.
Portsmouth FC, currently lying impressively at 5th place on the table, are
well known for recruiting African players especially under Harry Redknapp’s
management.
Prominent among the Africans presently playing for Portsmouth are Nigeria’s
dangling striker Nwankwo Kanu; Ghana’s World Cup midfield maestro Sullay
Muntari; Zimbabwe’s hit man and Portsmouth’s leading scorer Benjani
Mwanruwari etc.
Kallon, 27, who is presently a free agent following the termination of his
contract with French giant AS Monaco, is determined to prove Birmingham City
FC wrong for snubbing somebody like him ( the Sierra Leone national football captain) after two
weeks of trial with them last month.
Harry Redknapp’s decision to give Mohamed Kallon another trial within weeks
following his Birmingham City shows that the work permit excuse put forward
by City does not hold water.
