Christmas is just round the corner, while 2009 is soon to be placed into history. But for the youth of Sierra Leone, the challenges that they face are going to continue in years to come. And the youth who embark on various efforts to develop the lives of their colleagues, above all, deserve huge thanks and very best wishes for your hard work and commitment.

Next year and numerous years after that, we face several challenges relating to the development of youth in Sierra Leone. I know the route ahead is not a smooth one and some of us would feel our efforts, whether modest or huge, are not being appropriately acknowledged. A quick reflection on 2009 and many years before that, would probably account for a little result for youth development in our country.

But, we should be proud of every effort we’ve made towards our several efforts geared towards youth development and national development. I am pleased to assure you all that Young Leaders-Sierra Leone (YLSL) will work with you and our other partners and supporters to continue to strive to accomplish the highest possible socioeconomic standards for youth and the country at large.

During my recent visit to Sierra Leone, I saw firsthand the hard work and your determination to succeed despite the many difficulties you face. This has inspired me even more and I have no doubt that the contribution of the youth will certainly benefit Sierra Leone in a larger sense.

YLSL looks forward to continuing our collective efforts and I wish you and your loved ones a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
