In an increasingly polarized world, where major democracies are grappling with the rise of fascism, we need the voices of writers and journalists now more than ever.
For over a hundred years PEN centres around the globe have advocated and worked to protect their freedoms. From journalist deaths in Mexico, to the banning of books in the United States to the increasing silencing of writers and journalists in India, PEN and its membership speak up and shine a light on silencing and violence.
