Information has reached my ears that if Berewa wins the next election, because of his age and health, he will not serve the full first term. He will hand over the government to Momodu Koroma and then retire, perhaps, in the Dominican Republic in the West Indies. This agreement was supposed to have been brokered by the Libyan strong man Muamar Khadafi at the suggestion of President Kabba.
The allegation stated that Khadafi succeeded in brokering the agreement during the days when Berewa and Kabba were fighting over the SLPP running mate, by providing a big incentive to Solomon Berewa. The incentive is that Khadafi was to help contribute to the purchase (if not an outright purchase), of a new mansion in the resort area of the Dominican Republic where the then President Berewa will retire after handing over the government to Momodu Koroma.
The Dominican Republic is supposed to be where VP Berewa’s son, Solomon Berewa Jr. is currently attending medical school. Some people don¢t even believe he is in medical school, but that, he is supposed to be there living in and taking care of his father’s new mansion.
It is said that it was that proposal that made Berewa give up on his demand for Kanja Sesay as his running mate. President Kabba is said to have secretly suggested the proposal to Khadafi to be presented to Berewa separately. This effort was part of the continuous attempt by President Kabba to shore up his back when he leaves office, by making sure a stronger, dedicated and loyal servant takes over the helm from Berewa.
During the meeting with Berewa, Khadafi convinced him by putting more emphasis on his age and health, and suggested that it was better for him to retire quietly and enjoy the remainder of his life by giving up the hassles of government to someone who is strong and can be trusted.
In fact, words are that Berewa was actually convinced by the idea of giving up power to a YOUNGER AND STRONGER person who can protect him and Kabba. I was told that, that was the straw that broke Berewa¢s fixation upon Kanja Sesay. He too got convinced that Momodu can be stronger than Kanja.
I was also told that President Kabba hashed this proposal with Khadafi on his way to the Hajj in Mecca last year. Khadafi then had to meet with Berewa and Momodu Koroma separately when President Kabba was at the Hajj in Mecca.
Some considerations about the probable veracity of this allegation include the fact that Berewa was once heard saying that he will be satisfied even if he is crowned to be President for just one day before he decides on anything else for the rest of his life. There is also the fact that President Kabba did stop by Khadafi on his way to the Hajj last year and Momodu and Berewa did visit Khadafi thereafter.
If this allegation is true, then there you are folks! Especially SLPP folks. If you vote for Berewa, you are actually only voting for Momodu Koroma, Kabba¢s number one and number two select choices forced upon the SLPP. So knowing this, just ask yourself whom you will now be voting for. Will it be for Berewa to rule for, may be one year or less and then retire, or are you voting for Momodu Koroma for the remaining 4 years? Have your leaders been honest with you or have they only sought their own interests? Is that what you really want or expect to really vote for when you cast that ballot?
I know that they are going to deny this. If they do, please ask them if they can write a contract that will say that if Berewa ever resigns during his term, they should pass a Vote of No Confidence and handover the government to Charles Margai in the event he is not the President (God forbid). Ask them to sign that contract before you can put any more trust in them. You know already how they are going about denying everything from beating up a woman in segbwema to assassination attempts on Charles and Ernest.
PLEASE THINK TWICE, vote for Charles Margai and the PMDC instead. HE WILL BE THERE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS AND THE NEXT 5 AFTER THAT. HE WILL BE STRONG AND IN GOOD HEALTH AND PROVIDE STRONG LEADERSHIP FOR THE COUNTRY.
Otherwise, the next SLPP government will be the total selection and choice of President Kabba, instead of the people of Sierra Leone.
VOTE FOR CHARLES MARGAI, HE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU FOR THE WHOLE TWO TERMS.
