Mafoky Treatment Centre: 30 Dishcharged Survivors in one Month

The Medical Superintendent at the Mafoky Ebola Treatment and Holding Centre in Port Loko District, Dr. George has revealed that they have recorded a huge success in survivor rate since the centre opened about one month some days ago.The centre is,operated by Sierra Leoneans and Partners In Health,an American NGO.

On Wednesday December 3, the centre,discharged 17 Ebola survivors,it’s third set,bringing the total number of discharged cases of 36 "contrary to what other facilities have been producing."

The District Medical Officer Dr. Adekali Alpha Kamara explained that, this treatment centre was constructed within two weeks. He added that the centre was very much necessary because there was no place to keep the patients,and most of the cases were in the communities, so with the help of the Hon. Minister of information and communications Alhaji Alpha Bakarr Sahid Kanu, and partners he facilitated the construction within a period of two week.

"The Minister was very much involved in the erection of this centre,is always at the centre to see what’s going on at the centre, and now we can see the results that we are having since the day of opening the centre, that is 1st November. Today we have36 survivors."

The DMO,commended the Medical Superintendent Dr. George,and his health staff standing firm and working tirelessly to ensure that Ebola patients are given the required care and treatment they deserve. He also expressed special thanks to PARTNERS IN HEALTH for there timely intervention.

" We started the centre without clinical support from outside but PARTNERS IN HEALTH volunteers supported us and with our staff, today here we are, boasting of 36 survivors."
