The past four months have been fascinating. I have been doing something different, unique and fantastic. I have been coordinating and providing effective strategic communications on UNDP Africa’s new innovative private sector driven startup initiative-timbuktoo in New York as a Programme and Communications Specialist. As part of the timbuktoo initiative, I have successfully coordinated the process for the establishment of University Innovation Pods (UniPods) in ten UNDP country offices in Africa (Benin, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Malawi, Lesotho, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Togo and Uganda) to provide the platform for students to unleash their innovative potentials and create solutions to address SDGs challenges.
I also coordinated and led communications on timXAccra, supported timXLagos and effectively facilitated UNDP’s participation in the North Africa Startup Summit in Tunisia at the margin of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8), all to engage and seek partnerships for timbuktoo.
I am grateful to the UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Africa Director, H.E. Ahunna Eziakonwa, the UNDP Ghana Resident Representative, Dr. Angela Lusigi for the great opportunity and amazing support to make this professional experience an awesome one!
