Canadians are united in our support for the remarkable people of Ukraine who are so bravely resisting Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression. We know that in standing up for themselves, the people of Ukraine are standing up for democracy and international law—and we stand with them.

This weekend’s visit was a key opportunity for Canada to further underscore that unwavering support.

We visited Irpin to witness firsthand the awful destruction of Russia’s attempted occupation, and to hear first-hand from the heroic people who defended their community.

The Prime Minister raised our flag to mark the re-opening of Canada’s embassy in Ukraine.

Ukraine will continue to need both immediate and long-term support to win against Putin. Canada will continue providing that support, including military and financial assistance as well as removing tariffs on Ukrainian exports for one year.
