The publisher, editorial board and friends of the Patriotic Vanguard would like to report, with great sadness, the news of the passing away of Umarr L. Bayraytay(photo), the elder brother of the deputy editor of this press.

This sad event occured in the early hours of Sunday, March 4th, 2007 at Dr. Willoughby’s hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The late Umarr is survived by his mom, Mrs. Fatmata Juldeh Bayraytay nee Jalloh, and his long time fiance’ Naidae Davies.

Brothers and sisters include Abdulai Bayraytay (Canada), Adama Bayraytay (England), Musa Bayraytay (Mauritania), Muctarr Bayraytay (Freetown) Worokia Bayraytay (Freetown) and Mabinty Bayraytay (Freetown).

He is survived by several cousins,including Ms. Nurse Isha (Palmo Pharmaceuticals), Worokia Daramy (Mali), Dadoh Daramy (Freetown), Mabinty Kamara (Washington, DC, USA) and Musa Bayraytay (Freetown).

Several aunts including Madam Mabinty Bayraytay in Freetown,Rugie Jalloh in Makeni, several uncles including Khalil Bayraytay and Baba Bayraytay in Makeni and Kono respectively. Viewing of the remains of late Umarr took place at the Temne Mosque at Frederick Street in Freetown, and burial at the Circular Road cemetery in Freretown. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
