Vote for Solomon Berewa (SLPP)

APC supporters and thugs are clamoring that they have already won the elections, clearly disregarding the constitution that stipulates that a presidential candidate needs 55% of the votes to avoid runoff.

APC shouts: "The ides of March has come."
SLPP softly answers: "O Great Caesar but not yet gone. The runoff will tell."

I write to win over logical minds to vote for Solomon Berewa (SLPP). Mind you I am not in any way affiliated with Berewa. I am not related to him, have never met him or conversed with him. I have researched the two leading candidates and have arrived at the logical and non-tribalistic conclusion that Berewa will continue and improve on the progress, peace and development sustained by the SLPP regime.

Sierra Leone and Africa in general have a myriad of problems. I know most people are anxious about development that matches progress in the western world. Mind you most African countries are underdeveloped and are now on the path of development like Sierra Leone. However the development that we dream about and cherish is not going to happen overnight or through an Ernest Koroma Leadership.

APC borrowed huge amounts of international loans, squandered 90% and used 10% to construct capital projects. Remember, the issues of International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditionalities that we used to hear from the Momoh and Siaka Stevens regimes? Well, those conditionalities left us owing billions of dollars in debt. APC led us to an economic quagmire!

Luckily, President Kabbah and Berewa have lobbied western governments and 90% of that huge debt has been forgiven. Hence we can now embark on the journey of true progress that you dream of (thanks to President Kabbah and Vice President Berewa).

Bottom line is Ernest Koroma is not the answer to Sierra Leone’s woes. Berewa is a more law abiding citizen than Ernest Koroma and will listen to experts, uphold the rule of Law and continue or improve on the 7% annual economic growth witnessed and testified by the United Nations and international reports.

Ernest Koroma was recently a bystander to the attempted murder of Tom Nyuma. Ernest Koroma was in the room opposite Tom Nyuma and cannot tell you and me that he had no knowledge of his thugs almost killing Tom. How would you classify a person who stands by and watches or ignores others almost killing another? Ernest Koroma has condoned violence and is not qualified to lead a party or a country. The APC is the same party that condoned violence, oppression and brought Sierra Leone to the economic doldrums. APC just has a new driver (Ernest Koroma).

Charles Margai is an opportunist, a flip-flopper and has just committed political suicide. Charles Margai has deceived and misled his people. His ultimate goal is to gain power at any cost. I hope PMDC members will see reason in APC’s past misrule and history of violence, intimidation and oppression to vote for Solomon Berewa (SLPP) who has upheld the rule of law, promoted peace, progress and unity. Vice President Berewa has made it a point of duty to build schools, hospitals and roads in northern Sierra Leone without regard to tribal affiliations.

Ladies and Gentlemen, do not be fooled by the proposed alliance of PMDC with APC. The only person who would benefit from that alliance is Charles Margai. Charles Margai does not have the interest of Sierra Leone. He would do anything for material gain!

Under President Kabbah and Vice President Berewa, Temnes, Limbas, Fullahs and all have lived in peace and have freedom of speech. Even most Limbas and Temnes are now praising President Kabbah for conducting a free and fair first round of elections - something that Momoh or Siaka Stevens or even Ernest Koroma will never do.

The APC attacked Kenema, Kailahun and Bo in 1973 and 1977. The SSDs (APC security thugs) constantly harassed law abiding citizens in Kenema, Bo, Kailahun and Kono. In 1973, I was only three years old when APC thugs attacked Kenema. My late father and all his male counterparts in Kenema ran to the hills, they spent the night there. How traumatic for a three year old? Well, I replay that event every other day. APC is not a party to trust. APC=Violence + Thuggery+Oppression + Squander !

In 1977, APC repeated its usual feat: beat, burned properties and harassed Mendes or any who opposed. Has any Sierra Leone faction or tribe been mistreated by the SLPP? APC thugs are still committing violence around the clock as I write. Attacks on SLPP members by APC thugs have quadrupled in the past few days. The APC’s economic mismanagement eroded (devalued) our currency from 1 British Pound to 2 Leones to the current 1 British Pound to 6000 leones.

"Monkey nor blan lef im black han." "APC nor go ever lef im blak han". So, please tap your conscience and vote for someone who has not condoned violence and will at least preserve peace, uphold human rights and freedom and the rule of law. Peaceful Sierra Leoneans cannot trust a party with a history of violence, oppression and thuggery.

I am calling on all Sierra Leoneans who have experienced the misrule of the APC to denounce a party with a history of violence and join Vice President Berewa to sustain peace and improve on progress. Sierra Leone cannot afford a (minus) 35% retrogression. We need to build on our gains towards peace, human rights, freedom and progress.

Krioman say "know youself nor to curse". I hope that Mendes who make up 90% of PMDC realize who they are, where they emanate, what their fathers and grandparents suffered from APC Misrule and vote for SLPP. Remember, PMDC members, only SLPP can keep the peace, preach and practice the rule of law and uphold your rights as citizens of Sierra Leone.

Remember PMDC members, the first round of the elections have been clearly decided along tribal lines. Do not be fooled by Charles Margai or any other person or deny your heritage or yourself. Do not sell your vote to people (APC) who have manhandled you, your relatives or your parents or grandparents. Do not vote for Ernest Koroma. Do not vote for the same APC taxi that abused power for over 22 years. Vote for Solomon Berewa.

Remember the days of President Momoh when a few members of the sect "Ekutay" enjoyed the resources of the country. Well we cannot afford to go back to those days. We cannot afford to retrogress.

I am making a clarion call to all Mendes, Limbas, Temnes, Fullahs, Madingos, Lokos, Susus, Konos, Kisis, Krios etc. to unite against a party that will lead us down the drains. Vote for steady progress, Vote for Solomon Berewa (SLPP).
