Vice President Victor Foh visits South Korea

According to a report the Sierra Leone embassy in South Korea, the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh, paid a visit to the embassy in Seoul December 14th during his recently concluded working visit to the South Korean capital.

Vice President Foh is the most senior Sierra Leonean government official to visit the embassy since it was established last year with Ambassador Omrie Golley, a lawyer and businessman, as the first resident Sierra Leonean Ambassador in Seoul. Sierra Leone and South Korea established diplomatic relations in July 1971.

Vice President Foh, himself a former Ambassador to China, was, according to the report, accompanied by a six person delegation including the Mayor of Freetown Samuel Franklyn Bode Gibson, the Special Adviser to the Vice President Dr. Jengo Stevens, and the Principal Liaison Officer in the Office of the Vice President, Manso Samura.

The the Vice President was welcomed at the Sierra Leone Mission by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Korea, His Excellency Ambassador Omrie Michael Golley, Minister Plenipotentiary James Sawi, and Second Secretary Steven Levey.

Welcoming the Hon Vice President and his delegation to the Sierra Leone Mission, Ambassador Omrie Golley expressed his delight in welcoming the first very senior government official to visit the Embassy since it’s opening in 2014, and went on to highlight the activities and accomplishments of the mission in its first year of operations.

Ambassador Golley, the report stated, paid tribute to his staff for their own contribution and assistance to the smooth running of the mission, and assured Dr. Victor Foh of his continuing commitment to advancing the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries.

In his response, the Honourable Vice President expressed his own delight and pleasure in visiting Sierra Leone’s first ever mission in South Korea. He congratulated the Ambassador for the mission’s achievements since it’s setting up, indicating that he was most impressed with the mission’s structural set up and it’s team. He indicated that he was leaving Korea most satisfied with its performance, and exhorted the mission staff to continue to give of their best.

In his own contribution, the Mayor of Freetown Mr. Samuel Franklyn Bode Gibson stated that he was highly impressed with the leadership and entire staff of the mission and wished them well in the continued performance of their duties.
