President Koroma Assures Heineken

President Ernest Bai Koroma has on Wednesday 16th October, assured Heineken Africa of government’s continued support.

During discussions with the President of Heineken, Africa and the Middle East in Freetown, he registered deep satisfaction with strides being made by government in encouraging the private sector, with clear indications of good prospects, as the country is on the right track.

President Koroma said government has created the enabling environment for the private sector to grow and work to its fullest as the country has huge potentials.
He therefore lauded the company’s efforts for the initiative to incorporate local content in its product, adding that the inclusion of sorghum into the process has created huge opportunity for farmers, and has also improved on the quality of their product with high standards.

President Koroma said the most important thing is that government is making progress as it has taken the challenge to address issues of the private sector.
President of Heineken Africa, Siep Hiemstra thanked President for receiving his delegation during his first visit to Sierra Leone, even though he has been closely following progress made by the country, which is part of his investment story.
He said in the last two years the business environment in the country has been showing a very promising future, pointing out that the production of locally grown sorghum will increase abundant opportunities to farmers, and praised staff of the Sierra Leone Brewery Ltd. (SLBL) for being committed and dedicated to business, which he said gives him further courage for expansion.

He expressed hope that when SLBL and Heineken get together the company will be a real engine of growth for both sides.

Forming part of the delegation were Rob Marijnen, Director Heineken AME and outgoing Chairman SLBL, Willy Njana, Managing Director SLBL, Albert Ojo Collier, Company Secretary and Steven Alieu Kafoe, Project Manager.
