Dear fellow Comrades:
I hope this correspondence finds you well in health, family and work.
It is with great pleasure that I announce my candidacy for the position of Chairman of our beloved All People’s Congress’ North American branch (APCNA), in the upcoming elections.
I am a member in good standing of APCNA’s Minnesota Chapter: I have an unyielding commitment to human rights and the rule of law. My objective is to provide aggressive and ethical leadership to make our branch a model for civil discuss with a sense of national purpose. With your support and my qualifications, we can make a huge difference in not only our branch but more importantly, in our party and nation’s future.
I did not make this decision lightly: When I was approached to run,
I knew I had to first spend time in prayer with my family and in consultation with
comrades, friends and mentors. I soon achieved peace, knowing my background, experience and vitality would adequately qualify me for the position.
I pledge to keep all comrades at the center of my commitment to serve as Chairman. If I am fortunate enough to earn your vote and win the upcoming election, you will have chosen someone who will continue to work hard and remain directly accountable to you, the Honorable Members of APCNA.
Relating to the wide-ranging and complex issues facing the APCNA and indeed our nation and its people, comes naturally to me: I was born in Makeni (Makote), Bombali District and grew up in Kono District – our nation’s most diverse and predominant diamond mining - district. Except for the two years I spent at Magburaka Government Secondary School for Boys, I received my primary and secondary education in Kono District.
My background and roots in Sierra Leone and abroad have proven to be invaluable; I recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights and that our destinies are bound together. While the APCNA has certainly seen its share of problems, there is nothing wrong with our branch that cannot be fixed by us.
Therefore, this election must be about what can be done by us, together, through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of bridging our differences and make our branch the best it can be.
