DLWEF Celebrates Third Annual Donor Awards

The Dr. Lauretta Will Educational Foundation Inc. held the 2011 Annual Awards Banquet in celebration of their Third Anniversary. The DLWEF projects for the 2010 – 2011 Academic years were displayed during pictorial and video presentations. Various speakers also delivered very inspiring and motivational speeches to encourage the Atlanta area volunteers and donors on the plight of Sierra Leone’s academic devastation.

The Dr. Lauretta Will Educational Foundation, Inc. (DLWEF) is a non-profit organization founded in 2009. The Vision of creating educational access to under-privileged students, lead Dr. Lauretta Will, a professor and community organizer, to launch the Atlanta-based non-profit organization. The objective is to enable and empower students to achieve their academic and career goals. This in turn, will translate in reduction of the high illiteracy rate, causing extreme poverty and dire suffering of post-war children in Sierra Leone.

Dr. Will and Missionary partner, Minister Marilyn Mixon will be traveling to Sierra Leone in December for their 2011 Annual Missionary Outreach.

Here some highlights from the 2011 Annual Awards Banquet.

Award for Donation of Academic Equipment and Furniture went to Lincoln College of Technology in Marietta, Georgia. Award was received by representatives, Sandra Carter and Monica Williams.

DLWEF Advisory Board Member and the 2011 Speaker, Dr. Peter Correa, President of American InterContinental University, delivers speech on “The Impact of Educational Transformation of Lives.”

DLWEF Director of International Operations, Minister Marilyn Mixon, presents an Award for Donation of Computer peripherals and Academic Equipment. Min. Marilyn traveled with Dr. Will in 2010 and will be traveling again for the 2011 DLWEF Annual Missionary Outreach to Sierra Leone.

DLWEF Board Member, Dr. Annette West, 2011 DLWEF Speaker, University Professor and President of Living Word Ministry, South Carolina, receives an Award for Donation of School Supplies, Teacher/Lecture Materials and Academic Shipment Funds.

DLWEF Vice President, Al G. Sillah presented a powerful poem on Sierra Leone Educational Crisis, and also presented candidate for the DLWEF 2011 Technical and Media Award.

Board Member and 2011 DLWEF Awards Speaker, Prof. Diana Robbins presents Daniel an Award for Videography, Technical and Media Relations. Prof. Robbins also presented Dr. Will, a symbolic Globe for the Foundation’s Global Educational Initiative, and also announced a donation of 2,000 pairs of shoes by the Susan Coleman Cancer Foundation.

Pastor Kimberly Jones from Day of Change Family Worship Center and International Outreach, receives an Award for Academic and Financial Sponsorship of Mustard Seed Foundation in Moyamba, Sierra Leone. Donation was for orphanage mattresses. Orphanage also utilized funds for addition of Nursery wing.

Min. Deborah Barrett, 2011 Annual Awards Speaker on the Essence of Investing in Education, receives an Award for Professional Expertise.

DLWEF Board Member, Dr. Dixie Hickman, presents an Award to Dr. Elaine Spencer for 2011 Volunteer and Professional Expertise. Dr. Hickman also made financial contribution towards shipment of academic materials to Sierra Leone.

The Sierra Leone Community Leader, Musa, represented the Atlanta-area Sierra Leone Community.

Missionaries, Pastors Fred and Tijuanna Adetunji represented Fresh Anointing International Outreach from Montgomery, Alabama. The couple made financial donation toward shipment of academic materials to Sierra Leone.

Jassa Deen invested time and energy in packing over 200 boxes of books. Receives the DLWEF Award ‘2011.
