About Modupe Taylor-Pearce

My name is Modupe Taylor-Pearce Jr. I am the youngest of five children of Dr. and Mrs J E Modupe Taylor-Pearce.

I am blessed to have my father as a role-model for servant leadership. I am also blessed to have been given the opportunity to be the first Sierra Leonean to attend and graduate from the premier school of leadership in the world, the United States Military Academy (also known as "West Point"). This is the same school that trained General Norman Schwarzkopf, President Dwight Eisenhower, Gen Douglas MacArthur, General George S Patton, and James Kimsey (founder of America Online), and a host of other notable leaders. West Point was also recognized two months ago by Forbes magazine as the number 1 rated institution of higher learning in the United States (ahead of Harvard, Stanford, Yale, and the United States Naval Academy). After completion of my training at West Point in 1994, I voluntarily returned to Sierra Leone in 1994 to serve the Republic of Sierra Leone Military Forces (RSLMF) in the civil war. I was eventually injured (critically) in battle and after a few months of rehab, was forced to retire from the Army on medical grounds (my leg was partially paralyzed).

I returned to the United States to pursue a new career - in business leadership. After receiving a Masters degree from Cornell University, I was blessed to enter the world of leadership and business training and consulting, and eventually started to do "corporate turnarounds" (fixing stagnated or troubled companies). Along with other members of a first class team, I have been blessed to participate in or lead turnaround projects that have generated over $250 million in annual financial improvements for companies in the manufacturing, wholesale, transportation/logistics, food processing, and retail industry.

After re-dedicating my life to Christ in 2004, I felt led, along with my wife Renee, to do more to be a blessing to others in Sierra Leone. We together formed a non-profit organization called "Leaders of Godly Character International" (www.leadersofgodlycharacter.org), with a purpose of "developing leaders of Godly character that will serve God’s creation". We accomplish this goal in two ways: (1) conducting free leadership seminars, and (2) supporting childhood education by providing scholarships, books and school supplies to select schools in Sierra Leone. Over 1500 people in Sierra Leone and in the USA have attended the leadership seminars conducted by LGCI (usually in partnership with other organizations). In Sierra Leone, LGCI conducted seminars in Bo, Kenema, and Makeni.

My wife, Renee, is my best friend. We have been married 11 years. We have been blessed with 3 children.

Regards,

Modupe Taylor-Pearce Jr.
