SA media group meets Sierra Leone business leaders

Officials of South African based media group, Business
in Africa, arrived Tuesday this week in Freetown to
invite Sierra Leonean business leaders to the 5th
African Business Leaders forum.

According to a press release, this year’s forum which,
takes place outside South Africa for the first time
will be hosted in Ghana from October 17-19, 2007 in
collaboration with the government of Ghana and
Business & Financial Times, a local business
newspaper. The forum forms part of Ghana’s 50th
independence anniversary celebrations.

“This landmark event will bring top African business
leaders to the ECOWAS region and we are extending
an invitation to corporate leaders in Sierra Leone to
take part in what promises to be a brilliant
opportunity for cross-border business partnership,”
said Mark A. Kwateng, a member of the team.

The event, sponsored by telecom giant, MTN, Coca Cola
Africa, among others, seeks to inspire and motivate
Africa’s private and public sector leaders to
strengthen their resolve to fight poverty and under
development on the continent.

The team, which has already had meetings with business
groups in Liberia in connection with the forum, will
have similar meetings in Sierra leone before leaving
on Friday for other West African countries.
From Freetown, the team will visit and extend the same
invitation to business leaders in The Gambia, Senegal,
Cote d’Ivoire, Benin and Togo.
