A Pandemic Voice

By Mohamed Gibril Sesay, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

A pandemic voice
Vector of diseased words

Like virus of Zika
Giving birth to small brain thoughts

They say the Zika mosquito is male
Is angry male bred in stranded ponds

Stranded ponds of stale waters
Of waters unable to join the flow of rivers

Rivers that refresh
Rivers that irrigate fields of life

The pandemic voice
Loudness is trumping truth

Bits of glass put in foo foo of okra
To fool their mouths into lacerating their guts

Or mesmerized by its sizzling in the loud oils
They wolf the expired chicken of salmonella
