Reports reaching us from Sierra Leone state the convention held in Makeni to elect the executive of the National Union of Sierra Leone Students(NUSS) has ended in confusion.

The confusion, according to our sources, was caused by the interference of members of the ruling party and the government who wanted to impose their candidate on the students.

The fight was between one Abass, a Milton Margai student and Bonafa, an FBC student. Bonafa, according to our sources, is favoured by the government while Abass is supported by most of the students.

Abass was earlier admonished to step down by government representatives but he reportedly refused.

SLPP scribe Jacob Saffa and Education minister Alpha were allegedly at the convention.

Most of the students have returned to their campuses and it’s not known when they would convene again.
