Ivory Coast defender Guy Demel(photo) has extended his contract with German club SV Hamburg until June 2010.
Midfielder Demel said he was glad to sign a new deal and end speculation over his future.

"From the very start I always felt that Hamburg had faith in me and I am looking forward to future success with the club," the 25-year-old said.

Khalid Boulahrouz, who plays for Holland but is of Moroccan origin, has also signed a similar deal at Hamburg.

The 24-year-old recently threatened to leave the club if they sold central-defensive partner Daniel van Buyten, but has had a change of heart and committed his long-term future to Hamburg.

"I feel comfortable at this club. We have a great team, a fantastic coach and a great working environment," Boulahrouz said on the club’s official website.

Hamburg are currently second in the Bundesliga and have already qualified for the Champions League next season.
