The man himself, the godfather of contemporary Sierra Leone music - Emmerson - is in Winnipeg, Canada, to grace the much anticipated concert in the city (picture showing Emmerson and one of the show promoters, Muckson Sesay at the Winnipeg International Airport on Wednesday).

This is the biggest show to hit the African Community in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada, with Ghanaian hip-hop holy gospel star Steve Kodjo Vizion Kelly.

Speaking to one of the promoters of the show before he boarded his plane this morning from Philadelphia en route to Winnipeg Ghanaian music sensation Steve Kodjo Vizion Kelly said his mission is to deliver and conquer the African community in Winnipeg.

"I have heard about the happy vibes of the people of Winnipeg which is very good and with God on my side my mission will be accomplished," he said.

Steve Kelly who has a Ghanaian/Liberian background, was born into a family influenced by gospel music; it is therefore no surprise that Steve’s love for music has gotten him thus far. Recently he was on tour in Africa where he thrilled jam packed audiences in Ghana and Liberia with his powerful stage choreography.

The ’Day of the African Child" concert will take place at The Casa Do Minho Portuguese Centre,1080 Wall Street by Sargent Avenue in Winnipeg today, Saturday 16 June.Tickets go for $20 and are available at the gate.
